Finally Good News on the Girl Front

Image
I zoomed with a girl today.  She read my information in the student directory. It was kind of strange, but we had a great call and we agreed to hang out this weekend. I know this isn't a great picture, but nobody ever looks good on Zoom.  We wound up talking about an hour and despite Dave thinking I was weird for talking to a girl on the computer who was on the same campus I was, it kind of worked for us. I think it'll make meeting her face to face a lot more laid back. Her name is Ashleigh and she's actually a sophomore who lives off campus, but she's only 18 so it's cool.

My oh Mia! More Crazy Girls

Image
If you're following my college story, you'll notice the encroachment on my blog of several insane girls. The first was Becs and then she posted a picture of Paige holding pink shoes for me and Allison holding up a purse.  Now, Mia has a blog too.  Mia is Paige's roommate and equally crazy.  For some reason, these girls are obsessed with my hair and me in general.  If you had told me before college started, that I would have have a bunch of reasonable attractive college girls obsessed with me, I would have been ecstatic, but not obsessed with my hair.  Ladies, hands off the mane!

College Food

Image
I've heard an awful lot of complaints about food at college, but honestly it's pretty good. We have a half-dozen restaurants at the student union including my favorite Wendy's. I'm guessing my diet of cheeseburgers and pizza might not be the healthiest, but it's darn tasty.  They have salads too though I haven't eaten a vegetable since I've been here. Nothing beats my mom's home cooking, but this is a lot better than I heard.

That Stupid Corn Song

Image
It was cute the first time I heard it, but it's getting really old.  Every party I was at this week played it.  It was like a joke that's gotten progressively less funny over time.

Saturday at College

Image
That's Paige, one of the girls who is determined to do my hair.  She's insane just like the others are, but she knows football and I had hoped to watch the Nebraska-Northwestern game with her today.  Unfortunately, those girls have a one track mind so I had to avoid her and watched with Dave in our room instead. He thinks that those girls are going to cause me all sorts of problems if I don't give them what I want, but there's just no way that's happening. One problem with drinking heavily during the week is it was hard to find too much to do tonight.  I'm actually thinking I'll be in bed tonight before midnight.

Crazy Girls

Image
One thing about having long hair is that girls are always wanting to play with it.  It can be really cool if they just want to run their fingers through it, but a lot of girls for some reason want to curl it and try to give me a girl's hairstyle. Every Halloween, I'd always have a bunch of girls trying to convince me to go as a girl for college just so they can do my hair.   Unfortunately, girls don't outgrow this by high school it seems. Last night, Rebecca and a several of her friends wanted to do my hair and I wouldn't let them no matter how much I drank or how much they begged. I just don't want to do that kind of stuff. I'm a guy dammit.  Anyway, they talked me into a bet and I agreed just to shut them up.  It doesn't matter what the bet is, but they cheated so I refused.  In fact, I ran to my room and locked them out because these girls were determined.  Fun is fun, but they try and get all scary like if I don't pay up, they'll do more than j

My Nemesis

Image
This is Professor Sheila. I won't give her last name because I don't want her finding this blog, but I think she's my newest nemesis.  I've recently heard her referred to as a ball buster and heard a student tell me that her class is where GPAs go to die. She's actually a DuPont alum and a former Kappa, but wow is she tough. I made the mistake of thinking England and Britain were synonyms and in her British Lit class, that's not good. It's not really fault. Nobody told me that England was just a part of Britain and college is supposed to be where you learn things.  Anyway, she didn't let it pass and instead chose to mock me for my screw up. It's probably not a good idea to get on the professor's shit list on the first day of class, but I'm assuming she has a very big list.  It sure seems that way. Looking at the syllabus, this is way too much work for just an English class.

Dave the Roommate

Image
My new roommate and I got to spend a lot of time together today. I think Dave and I are going to get along great. He's good looking, loves beer, and has already promised me that he won't be spending all his time in the dorm room leaving me plenty of time to entertain. The two of us got very wasted last night and I'm feeling it a bit. I think even though he's bigger than me, he's even worse off than I am. His taste in music kind of sucks, but we can't all be perfect. His taste in women is better, but he is warning me off of my current crush. I don't know if I trust my instincts or his.

First College Party

Image
Wow! I went to my first frat party and it was everything I could have hoped for. I got so wasted for $10 playing beer pong, which I saw in high school, but never played myself. The girls there were amazing and so aggressive if that's the way to put it. Girls were hitting on me instead of me having to do the pursuing and I just wasn't used to it. I got the impression this might have had something to do with rush because the fraternity's big sisters were kind of laying it on a bit thick. I don't know if it was just the fraternity or what, but it seemed like a lot more girls were wearing dresses and heels than at a high school party. I got pretty shit-faced and slept it off for most of the morning.

Finding Friends Fast

Image
Even though classes haven't started yet, I've learned a few things about college life. It happens real fast. The girl you think is hot one day, turns out to be a real bitch the next. Friendships are being made and lost by the hour and that's way faster than I'm used to.  Found some great guys to hang out with today playing pool and video games. I want to go to some college parties though and tonight seems to be a good night for them as classes start for real on Thursday. I have met the roommate and he is alright. I think we'll get a long fine.

Moving Day

Image
My parents and sister helped me move in today and it was bitter sweet. I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my life, but for them, it was sad seeing me go off to college. We did the usual stuff--toured the campus, got my keys, and moved all my stuff into the dorm.  I've already been warned that the food here sucks so it was great that mom and dad bought me out to a decent meal before they left. There was a Chinese place here and I think The Bamboo Dragon is probably even less authentic then the name, but it was still good.  Great Views Okay, living in the same dorm as girls is going to be wild. This is Rebecca or Beccs as she prefers. She's actually taller than I am, but I like tall girls. She also seemed really nice and of course being tall she played basketball in high school too. Anyway, I got a picture of her as the first girl I talked to in college and she was pretty awesome too!  We are making plans to make plans to hang out, which is cool. The other view is o

One of the Toughest Decisions I've Ever Made

Image
Basketball has always been an important part of my life and I was disappointed when I didn't get a single scholarship offer despite averaging over 12 points and four rebounds in leading Valley to the state playoffs. I'm sure my height had a lot to do with it. I'm not even average height for a guard, but I make up for it with quickness and a shooting touch (35% from three-point range last season). Plans Change I was so determined to prove myself that I was going to walk on at DuPont this year. I know that I can play well enough to make the team here. I've watched them practice and I am sure I would be starting by sophomore year, but then what? I'm not good enough for the NBA and it's not like they're scouting DuPont anyway. I decided that instead of busting my butt in this dead end basketball dream, I would just be a normal student (though I'm going to kick some serious butt in intramurals). Besides, the girls at college are hot and I can use the tim
