How I Spent my Internship - The Coffee Shop
Here’s an old pic of me from my internship. The office was located on the second floor of this quirky little building that had a coffee shop, a drug store, and a few other small businesses on the ground level. I used to love the atmosphere—there was always this subtle buzz of activity. You’d hear snippets of conversation from the cafĂ©, a door chime from the pharmacy, and the soft clatter of heels on the stairs as people filed into work.
The coffee shop downstairs became my morning ritual. They knew my name (and my order) by the second week. I’d always stop in before heading up—usually something simple like a vanilla latte or cold brew if I was running late. On slower mornings, I’d sit with my cup and people-watch for a few minutes before the workday officially began. It made the internship feel less like a humiliating grind and more like something I had chosen for myself.
From not sure how you were going to pass at the internship to just a girl people watching with a vanilla latte at her favorite coffee shop, in a very short period of time. What a great experience!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great atmosphere; like you really enjoyed it. Or at least some aspects. Did you make any friends you think you will see from time to time? That's part of an internship, from what I've seen. You could set up to meet them at the coffee shop to catch up. Keep up on the fashion biz. P.S. I love your purse with that dress.
ReplyDeleteI didn't make any real friends. I think it was a combination of a very limited number of interns, a job where we didn't really cross paths, and the adults I worked with being at least 8 or 9 years older than me for the most part so they were supportive and we did go out to lunch occasionally, I can't see these being lifelong friendship.s
